Terrible opinion of this company. We have a Whirlpool duet sport stackable washer and dryer. Last week the dryer began to show the F1 error, troubleshooting via maintenance came to the conclusion that the control board is gone.
Our options are then to replace the control board which is almost the cost of a new dryer, or get a new dryer...only to find that whirlpool has changed their stacking kits and dimensions so no new dryer fits on top of this washer. What the heck?? So now, since we require stacking appliances, we have to buy a whole NEW SET of appliances even though the washer is in perfect working condition? This is shady and bad practice as it's obviously a money grab, I am disgusted by this and will warn everyone to steer clear of Whirlpool and all associated brands. This change has essentially rendered an entire major appliance obsolete because of the failure of its pair. Given that this was a purposeful change on Whirlpool's part, it's one thing if the company honours their brand by offering a large discount or a complimentary control board switch for the dryer. Instead, talking to customer service, they seemed just as perplexed and helpless as we are.
Without such proper customer service or reparative action, since there is no need for us to stick with Whirlpool for the new set of appliances, we certainly will be avoiding them and all their affiliates in the future for all our properties.
