When I received this in a newsletter today from A Yarn Story (see photo) I felt that some transparency was in order. Firstly, there is no doubt that A Yarn Story stocks a wide variety of beautiful yarn. But I feel that being bribed to give a 5 star review is clearly wrong. This has also prompted me to share something else that troubles me. Hardly any yarn in the shop is priced and having to repeatedly ask prices makes the whole experience uncomfortable. I feel that it is actually done as a technique to shame people into buying without asking, notwithstanding that it disadvantages people who struggle with managing numbers and information. It is a simple thing to be transparent and honest, and time that shops like this were pulled up on such practices.
The photo didn't appear, so the newsletter said, "As a thank you for your 5-star review, we will give you 10% off your next purchase. Just drop us an email with a link to your review and we'll send you a code, or show us the review in-store and we will take 10% off"
