Karen Degges Review of Varsity Inn
Still trying to get bug bites to clear up a month ...
Still trying to get bug bites to clear up a month after staying here. This was the worst hotel experience we've ever had, but you can't grade zero stars. Other guests on the 2nd floor were partying all night, playing loud music, dancing above our ceiling all night long, throwing glasses and beer cans over the balcony onto the sidewalk (just in general using the 1st floor as a toilet and trash can), and puking everywhere (see photos). Some drunk man pounded on our door at 3:00 am, and scared my sister and I half to death. We were screaming at him to leave us alone. After hours of management doing nothing about this, those of us who actually booked a room there thinking we would have a safe place to sleep, we all started calling 911 to get police help. The partiers were even belligerent to the officers who came to try and help us, and management still continued to do nothing. The police said they often have issues at this hotel, as young college age kids hang out there and party like they're still on campus at a frat house. The chaos started at 8:30 pm, and continued on until after 5:00 am. We had an 11 hour drive home on 2 hours of sleep. If you have children, care about your personal safety, have an issue waking up with bug bites, or just value getting some sleep, don't stay here. The hotel is old and clearly gets a lot of abuse from all the partying. And beyond that, management won't care about you once they get your money and will be aggressive to you if you complain, let alone ask for a refund. I took photos of some of the carnage, even though the partiers tried to bully me into stopping.
