Phil Rennett Review of Bayfront Marin House
Superb location and good accommodation. There were...
Superb location and good accommodation. There were a few small issues, which could have been ironed out if communication had been better - although we were fully aware that the owners had bigger problems to sort out at the main hotel, following Hurricane Matthew.
(This next bit is for the owners' benefit and shouldn't put you off coming to stay.)
The section in the welcome letter dedicated to breakfast (either at the hotel or delivered to our door) was crossed out completely, so we made our own arrangements for the first couple of days and bought in some food and drink, only to find a small hamper appear each morning.
Servicing the room appeared to be limited to changing the towels and rearranging the cushions. Being so close to the beach invariably leads to sand appearing on the tiled floor. A quick sweep (or even leaving a broom for guests) would have been welcome.
We tried to park in the short-term parking space in front of the hotel to come in to see you to discuss the lack of TV and wifi, but it was always full of contractors' vehicles, working on the hotel repairs. It was only after a couple of days that we found out that parking was free in the town - would've been nice to know that from day one.
Finally, our afternoon rest from the heat of the day was marred on two of our four days, when contractors clambered onto the roof and set about replacing the felt tiles that had disappeared in the storm. Advance warning would have been welcome.
The lack of communication made us feel more of a hindrance and something to be tolerated rather than welcomed, which was disappointing as our few days with you was the culmination of a two-week break that involved getting married in Orlando and then enjoying our honeymoon.
However, as I said at the start, the location is superb and the accommodation is very good. Well worth a visit - just not during or immediately after extreme weather!
