We were recommend to stay here from friends.
We booked here because we wanted an amazing vacation experience. I paid $700 extra to stay in the Maki tower and NEVER got anyone to answer my call for concierge serves. If you stay in Maki they say you get special features, this did not happen so I wasted $700. However we Got a moldy bathroom!
I have traveled to Maui 4 times staying at Westin properties, this was my first time visiting big island and first time to stay at a Hilton and may be last.
I was very annoyed by all the staff that kept asking me if I book a package deal when I paid full price.
There is not a beach, so if you are looking for beach access this is not the place.
There is only one place to get breakfast. You can order from the menu but 95% of the guest have the buffet, it is the same food everyday, nothing special.
Restaurant:The best restaurant on the property is Provisions...it was good.
Luau: was good.
Dolphin Swim: Was great.
Pools: There really is only one pool and it is okt but get ready for the day pass visitors, which is very frustrating. They have a section marked that says Maki guest only but that is a joke, no one patrols that, they mention a lazy river pool, it is lazy alright. Don't go here thinking there are tubes to float around in.
Great slide at the main pool. Probably the best part of our trip and the ice cream sandwich at the ice cream shack.
The lagoon is kind of like a big pond and is located next to the Dolphin area. There is a man made waterfall. You can rent kayaks & paddle boards but we did not do that. I felt like I was at a large pond with turtles in in.
Rooms in Maki tower definitely Needs upgrading. When you take a shower the water would flow out onto the bathroom floor. No bath tubs.
We did rent a car which was on property so that was convenient and the staff at the rental car agency are probably the only staff at the entire resort that are knowledgeable.
Also don t expect service while sitting in your lounge chair, that will no happen! And you cannot see any ocean from your chair.
I plan of coming back to the big island but I will be staying at the Marriott Autograph collection or another beachfront property that actual has an attentive knowledgeable staff.
The Hilton Waikoloa is more like a holiday Inn.
