Took my wife there on Sunday afternoon, July 29th ...

Took my wife there on Sunday afternoon, July 29th around 3 PM. She was in acute pain. The staff greeted us quickly and got her back to the treatment rooms. When the PA came in, she said we were in the wrong place for the kind of pain my wife was experiencing and we needed to go back to our primary care physician. I informed her it was Sunday afternoon, and our physicians office was closed and could she please give us some pain medication because my wife was suffering. The PA (who acted like a deer caught in the headlights) said she could give us some Tylenol, but that s all the ER could do for us.

I asked if we could please investigate what was causing the pain, and the PA said we were in a facility that was really for life threatening situations and my wife s pain did not qualify. I insisted that they do something, so the PA left and came back with a doctor s recommendation to do a CT scan and see if there was something wrong. The CT scan showed a herniated disk at L5 that was most likely pressing on a nerve, and bulging disks at L1-L5, which was most likely causing her the pain.

They discharged my wife after this with a prescription for the pain and a suggestion we get a MRI.

To be honest, the staff was courteous but the PA who treated us was completely inept. I forced them to come in to view my wife (who was practically writhing in pain), and treat her, which is why we came in in the first place.

I have lived in Granbury for 31 years, and have always heard the horror stories about the hospital here. The locals say they would rather die on the highway going to a Ft Worth hospital than get treated here. I understand.
