Excellent place to visit! I purchased my ticket one day in advance & scanned my mobile ticket for entry without any problems! I would recommend taking a tour bus as my friend and I took the train from downtown Paris and had a bit of trouble taking the right trains to get to Versailles. The town where the palace is located is so authentically French. So beautiful and clean. Wear comfortable shoes as the palace is huge and the gardens are massive!
