Not a fan. The lobby was nice, and the staff was friendly at check-in, but that's about as good as it got. For a luxury boutique hotel in Houston's premier shopping district, Hotel Derek leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are dated with popcorn ceilings and confusing design. The check-out time is 11am and late check-out is $50, regardless of how late. And the elevators...there were only 3 and after almost 5min of waiting for one going down, we eventually had to get on an elevator going up just to get to the first floor. This is supposed to be a nice hotel that charges a premium for its guests. It was certainly nice-ish, and I'm fine with paying, but I expect to receive equal value in the quality and experience of my hotel stay. Will not be going back.
