First time working with a third party agency and it has been the worst NYC housing experience. Corey in particular (who is our agent's "boss") says a lot of things that either aren't true or that he doesn't mean, and then tries to get personal with you in order to make you feel bad and/or give in to the scenario (mostly in the form of incredibly lengthy text messages.) (Not to mention, feels comfortable enough to say you seem like bad tenants and further insult you, but then "bends over backwards" to make sure you can sign the lease (that you no longer want in the first place) ...so he can get paid! Go figure. Welcome to New York.) When we put a deposit down on a unit, he told us we'd have to go through an interview process with the management before our applications could be fully processed. After we submitted paperwork, we received an email from the closing manager suddenly saying that we were approved, and that the "interview" is actually the lease signing. On top of not being able to get our deposit back after being approved, we weren't allowed to be in any sort of contact with the management before signing which we weren't notified of until it was too late. In other words, if we find out that the management is awful upon meeting/researching them, we will still lose our deposit if we back out for this reason. Awful communication with us and especially amongst eachother. Sad excuse for a trendy business. Heard they were legitimate but should've scrolled through reviews first. Will never associate with MySpace again, but would definitely work with Lakeino, our primary agent, in a heartbeat.
