We needed an appointment before Sept because of our travel plans. The consulate went into action and got us an appointment that worked for us. They were very helpful in obtaining a visa. Even though they have a heavy workload, they were understanding about our situation and helped us through the process. Many thanks to the people (especially Christina) of the Spanish consulate in LA.
