The setting and atmosphere is second to none of a luxury old feel resort. The service was largely well done, but we found the restaurant, which was supposed to be the crown jewel, was severely lackluster. From the service which was hit and miss, due to the staff fawning over a food blogger and an old acquaintance of the staff, it was fairly unprofessional, and certainly not up to the standard of a restaurant trying to be the best in Canada. The food was also very uneven, with a large focus on theatrics (liquid nitrogen smoke and using the old bones of pigs and fish) often missed on execution and taste. Over usage of coriander as an accent on three dishes made the dinner tasting very disappointing, while other dishes were muddled or too focused on using the same tricks (how many gelees need to be used) made the experience feel like it was the work of a hand not used to doing simple and tasty dishes. Even the veal main had a great tasting half of poached veal, but was let down by peas that missed having the sweetness of the best in season peas on the market, and an over powering piece of veal which overwhelmed the rest of the dish. It's too bad, because the feeling we left with was that Langdon Hall was a lackluster experience that didn't live up to its stature
