I would have rated a 1 star if the space wasn't so...

I would have rated a 1 star if the space wasn't so beautiful. I went there with my family in a party of 5. I couldn't check my coat for over 10 minutes because the check person disappeared. We were seated in a very nice table in the back, during which the service was lacking. The food was boring at best, over seasoned at it's worst. I wish I could say something better. I had come in with such high hopes based on the reputation. My foie gras dumplings tasted of nothing but dill. The only redeeming quality of the chicken kiev was that I could dip in the butter. The beef stroganoff was almost flavorless. I spoke to the manager on the way out and he blamed restaurant week. I would think that would be an excuse to be at your best, you want these people to come back. I didn't order off the restaurant week menu anyway. The manager took my email address and said he would email me about my experience. That was 4 days ago. I know it's Times Square, but you can do better.
