One of the best Palaces and gardens in Europe. Best period for visit is Spring and Autumn because at this period the gardens are very beautiful. Try to go before 10am in order to avoid the crowds.
If you don't take a guide, try to take the head phones audio guide. It's not the best solution but it's decent.
We stayed at the palace half a day and it's very nice to see the gardens also in the afternoon. We also rent a bike and a boat ath the gardens and it was a pleasure.
