I am giving one star because I can t give zero. I have never been treated so horribly by a retail shop in my entire life.
First, the woman working the cash register accused me of stealing the coffee machine I was carrying from Nespresso which I bought before I entered the store. I told her I bought it before I came in and showed her the receipt. She refused to process my order stating that unless I had announced that I had the item with me as soon as I entered the store, then it was stolen.
Now, I was unaware of this policy, but instead of being reasonable and looking at my receipt (which she refused to actually look at) she continued to treat me like a criminal until the line behind me got too long.
Finally, she called the manager after another customer in the line interfered. And imagine my surprise when I discovered that the manager is just as pathetic.
The manager, Walter Heiderscheid, further vilified me claiming that his horrible employee was in the right and everything I said was regarded as a lie. Even though I told him repeatedly that she refused to let me pay, and didn't ask for my ID or another form of payment.
Adding to my total shock was the fact that Heiderscheid didn't care how the customers in his stores are treated. He refused to talk to me in a mediating way and said that I didn t deserve his care because I "wasn't a customer," you know, because I didn't actually buy the items that his disgusting employee refused to let me pay for. And instead told me I had to leave the store because I was rude to them. Which is true, I was rude IN RESPONSE to their UNBELIEVABLE rudeness, ignorance and intolerance.
But, perhaps the thing that makes me angriest is the fact that when I told Heiderscheid that I would report this incident to Media Markt, he laughed and told me to "go ahead" because no one at Media Markt would care.
Evidently he was right. I reported it to Media Markt and they claimed they couldn t do anything about it because each store is a separate company. So here I am.
It is amazing to me that in the age of Amazon, stupid bigots like Heiderscheid and his staff are still in customer service positions when clearly they have no training or skills in this area. And what s worse is that these small-minded people are not held accountable for their actions. I have never seen a manager treat a customer as less than human and not apologize for the abuse inflicted by the Neanderthal in his employ.
Treating customers like this is not OK. And all prospective customers deserve to know what they are walking into if they shop here. I will be buying my electronics from Amazon now. And I would recommend anyone who doesn t want to experience prejudice and abuse shop on Amazon as well.
