Alissa Zappitelli Review of Hyatt Regency Cleveland
I will start by saying the front desk workers were...
I will start by saying the front desk workers were very nice, helpful, and the arcade is beautiful. That is about the only nice things I have to say about the hotel. I did my wedding hotel block there which was literally the most stressful part of my wedding (which is ridiculous...its a hotel for my guest and I to stay at? easy enough). Everyone I spoke to that some kind of title all gave me different answers for things. I had a large wedding and told them I would need at least 40 rooms for my guest (my sister got married the year before and thats how many she had). I was ENCOURAGE D to only book 20 rooms and "add as needed". I was assured it was no problem at all and typical thing brides do. As a bride I look to these people for advice and guidance as they do this all the time. I trust them to help me. Anyways, as my room block filled (quickly) I got an email saying there were no rooms for my block. I was furious because I planned a breakfast the next morning for my guest (mind you, through Hyatt so they were getting more $$$ from me) and I booked at 1500 shuttle bus for my guest to be picked up/dropped of at hotel. I wanted all of my guest there. They kept telling me there was no availablity for more rooms...then said "there are rooms but those guest have to pay the regular room rate and dont get a discount". So they had rooms which should of been for my wedding which I was promised. Katherine told me to book a "spill over" room block down the road at the Hampton Inn and my other guest can just "walk to breakfast the next morning". Umm...no. I don't want to ask any of my guest to walk at 9 am to get breakfast. After FIGHTING for 4 days straight and getting so many different answers from "head" people I finally got my 40 room block which is what I wanted from the beginning. Next, on the contract it says to deliver gift bags to guest it cost 3 something a bag. I asked, "can I just leave the bags at the front desk instead of getting them delivered?" and I got "no, we dont have room behind the desk". Okay fine. As I arrive to Hyatt I notice a cart of gift bags behind the desk. I ask the front desk "what are those" and they tell me they are bags for a wedding. I of course, confused, said "I was told you guys don't hand out gift bags behind the desk...are you charging them for it?" The girl said "no we hand them out...and no, we don't charge anything".
So after giving the hyatt about 60 rooms from my guest for my wedding (between thursday and friday) and booking a 80 person breakfast the next day I was treated very very very poorly. I had 1000 different things to worry about for my wedding and having a crappy hotel room block shouldn't of had to be one of them (which mind you there are 100 different hotels in Cleveland I could of choose and I am so mad I didn't).
The day after my wedding I went to a different hotel and upon arrival my husband and I had champagne, flowers, and chocolate waiting for us with a congratulations on getting married note. We stayed one night at this hotel with no room block. The Hyatt didn't do any of that for us and we spent our wedding night there. Never even acknowledged the fact we got married. Oh, they did leave us a note that said "thanks for booking with us and congrats". Yeah, you're welcome.
Oh also they put a $50 charge for each night you stay there on your card that you use and didn't tell any of my guest. I had to have people call them and ask why their bill was $100 more than it should be. Of course the answer was "oh it should drop off in a few days, they should of told you that". Again, just so poorly ran...everyone has different answers and clearly not all of their employees are filled in on things.
****So any brides looking for a hotel room block please please please do yourself a favor and do not book with the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade. Save yourself a headache and get treated like you deserve. *****
