There is no doubt that the hotel is grand. There are lots of impressive spaces that are designed for occasions like a ball or weddings. When nothing much is happening, the space can feel a little empty.
The guest rooms are reasonably spacious. Very well appointed and not lacking in any amenities. In fact, we were quite impressed with their selection. As usual, the number of English TV channels are very limited but being situated in the middle of the Daiba district, there are a lot of entertainment options which will be sufficient for most people on a short stay.
There are two issues why I only gave it 4 stars. One is that it is not in Tokyo metro proper so any visits to other main touristy areas will require a train trip (possibly changing trains and stations) and extra travelling time. Keep this in mind and look at the map before you book. The second issue is the extra cost of using the gym and pool (about USD10 per visit). I understand that it is a very nice facility which is marketed more as a spa but consider how much they are charging for rooms, it seems a little petty to charge paying guests extra for use of gym equipment.
There are lots of dining options on-site but they are all quite expensive. But here are lots of other options within walking distance so it is not an issue. When you are desperate for a midnight night snack, there is a 24hrs convenience store just around the corner.
Staff are uniformly polite and helpful. Can't fault them at all.
