This park is a must see. We went there the end of September, right as a few spots of the park were starting to close for the winter. We stayed in Canyon Village, which is basically the east side of the middle of the figure 8. I would stay there again as we were so close to the grand canyon of Yellowstone and it was an easy drive to Lamar Valley and up to Mammoth and down to Old Faithful. Be sure and bring your swimsuit to get in the boiling river. We messed up and did not get up early except for two of our 4 mornings. The early hours is when you see most wildlife. Our last morning we saw and video recorded a bugling moose! It snowed a few minutes one morning and that was neat. We can't wait to go back in the Spring!
