At Eataly, you can have an aperitivo in La Piazza, drinks on the roof of Birreria, a snack at the Nutella Bar, and dine at one of the many authentic Italian restaurants. The Eataly marketplace is very similar to the markets in northern Italy. Here are some of my favorites:
La Pasta & La Pasta Restaurant: I've had the Quadrati ravioli and an asparagus lasagna special on two separate occasions. The ingredients are fresh and refreshingly simple in their preparation. Two glasses of prosecco, a pasta, a pizza, and an appetizer came to $75. So reasonable!
La Piazza: Classica mozzrella, roasted butternut squash salad, and paper-thin prosciutto can be enjoyed at the bar or at the standing tables in the center. A little crowded, but absolutely delicious.
Manzo: Meat-centered restaurant. Tagliatelle with goat shoulder and black truffle butter is incredible, Two entrees, two glasses of prosecco, and a shared appetizer came to $130.
I obviously love Eataly, so here's the tally:
+1 star for the reasonable deliciousness of La Pizza & La Pasta
+1 star for the huge selection of EVOO in the marketplace
+1 star for the delicious housemade burrata cheese
+1 star for the paper-thin prosciutto in La Piazza
+1 star for the bread that my family still won't stop talking about
-1 star for the huge crowds that make it impossible to walk through without being shoved
-1 star for the overpriced dried pasta and jarred pestos in the marketplace
