Big Bend is a snapshot in time of what the west was like for the first settlers. Because it is a national park very little has changed, in fact I talked to folks who had been coming to the park for 20+ years and that was one of the unique draws. It has everything you imagine a desert would have. Mountains, canyons, basins, Alpine valleys, and of course the star of the show the might Rio Grande river. Definitely worth the visit.
