I have several food allergies and a friend decided to surprise me with an allergy-friendly small wedding cake from Short Street. She called several bakeries first who refused to bake it because of the numerous allergies I have. Short Street said they could and "do it all the time." Wrong. If you have Celiac or other severe food allergies, DO NOT TRUST THIS ESTABLISHMENT. My friend was diligent, calling several times to make sure the ingredients they used were free of X and Y and I even called once more before taking a bite and was told "It's free of <said allergens>" After one bite, I was in an ambulance 20 minutes later, off to spend the evening of my wedding day at the ER.

When we contacted the bakery to discuss this matter, something became clear. Not one knew what on Earth they were doing. Over several phone calls, texts, and emails, we were told "It's vegan, so it can't have nuts," "the order only said gluten-free not nut free" and "all the gluten-free ingredients are vegan and therefore are free of canola oil" on top of being given 3 different suppliers of their chocolate from various staff members. Eventually, we got a copy of the invoice that didn't list anywhere my life-threatening allergies. To top it all off, the manager/owner actually said "I don't see why this is my problem" when my friend called to complain. They did refund my friend her money back, but now I'm stuck with hundreds of dollars in medical bills because of Short Street's incompetence.
