The best thing about the hotel is its well-trained staff who also bring in the inherent Filipino hospitality. Outstanding are the waiters/food servers at the Heat namely: Rico, Cris, Dexter, Aldrin, Alvin and Aileen! They go out of their way to pease guests. I have observed that they are very attentive, friendly, and courteous to all guests. ...I am very disappointed with my experience at the Horizon lounge. There was barely any food outside of the cocktail hours. I travel extensively and I stay in other 5-star hotels and sometimes 4.5-star hotels. EDSA Shangrila pales in comparison even with 4.5 stars. I've also used the Horizon lounge at EDSA Shangrila before. The service and the food and drinks have deteriorated tremendously. Moreover, I was asked to check out early. I was informed that check out time is at 12 pm! As if I didn't know that I am allowed to check out at 4 pm given the type of room I have! I even have a copy of the document that says so. I made a compromise and checked out at 2 pm. I had to cut short the time I had to work at the Horizon business corner --which is the reasons I booked this room anyway. One thing I know for sure is that I'm not going to use the Horizon again--IF I will stay at EDSA Shangrila at all.
