Ways that car buying experience at Lindsay Ford can be improved:
1. Honor the price that you advertise on True Car.
2. If your customer has already agreed to purchase the car, has given you all the required information, and has a tight schedule -- get the paperwork done before he gets there. Don't waste your customer's time; they hate that!

Regarding #1, guaranteed price was $13,200. When I arrived, they increased it to $14,200 because I had my own financing. They also added $2,585 for 172-point inspection that "qualifies the car for an extended warranty." They would not remove the $2,585 because "they already did the inspection" -- on a used car with only 25 miles on the odometer. After LONG negotiations, 3 hours, I agreed to sign papers. On the last signature page was the total price and -- they added another $2,000 for an extended warranty. When I demanded that they remove it, they claimed that they were expecting the "kick back" from FORD for selling the warranty and "that's how they were able to negotiate the price" and that they'd need to reconsider.

Regarding #2, I was told - after the fact - that they don't do paperwork before the customer shows up because they don't want to waste their time on paperwork in case the customer doesn't show up. (In my scenario, all negotiations were done on day 1 and signing of paperwork was on day 2. Perhaps because they wanted to ensure that they made me angry twice.)
