My mom was very recently in the hospital at OSU. I reserved a room at the Varsity Inn for 2 nights. I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of my room. The carpet needed cleaned. There were stains on the comforters. Grease spots from what appeared to come from food being dropped on the sheets. They looked as though had not been changed. Pillows on one bed were like throw pillows for a couch. The fridge was warm and made loud noises. The microwave half worked. There were particles of whatever and hair in the shower. It made me feel dirty just being in the room. I was reluctant about staying but do to the circumstances with Mom I did. Well....an early discharge from the hospital meant that I didn't need to stay another night. When I asked about a refund for the night I didn't need, I was told yes since it was cancelled before noon. I went to the front desk for my money but when the receptionist seen that I had paid with cash she said that the money couldn't be refunded. She said that if I had charged it to a card she could credit it back to the card or credit it to another stay. However; I paid with cash so it could not be refunded. Doesn't make sense to me. I don't believe this is very good business practice. If the room has been paid for by me and then rented to someone else the same night...I believe that is somewhat illegal. One room rented for twice the price. BEWARE OF THIS INNS DOUBLE DIPPING PRACTICE!!!
