As often happens, one goes for a popular exhibition and gets a bonus with a serendipitous display also on view. Yesterday we came to see the works of Charles White, and discovered Yugoslavian concrete architecture of the 20th century. Admission is relatively pricey, membership defrays the cost if you visit more than a few times a year. The Union Square group runs the cafeteria and restaurant, and the food is healthy, creative and delicious, a far cry from the hotdogs and chips in the dark ages of the culinary past. Prices moderate by new York standards. The gift shop and design stores are overpriced for utilitarian standards, but your cheese grater, coasters, glasses, and such will be works of art.
