Obviously, as a construction site operative working for Madigan Gill, you don t learn anything about the structure of the company, its policies and practices, and how it implements legal and other requirements, such as equal opportunities; so my review will be based upon the performance of Madigan Gill with reference to the following points:-

Whether or not they are easily approachable and listened when contacted;

Their reliability, punctuality and accuracy in paying wages, and their readiness and speed regarding correcting errors on the rare occasions when these occur;

Whether or not they appear to reward genuine effort.

Firstly, you can always speak to helpful known contacts on their mobiles and the main office on its landline number. The office sends me texts about other vacancies they are looking to fill, which is handy if I happen to be bored or dissatisfied in a given position. Also, if a representative is visiting the site for some particular reason, they will always make time to speak to you personally if you have some request or issue you wish to raise with them. You can also contact members of the team via email.

The method through which I get paid means that I get a confirmation text several days before the money is actually credited to my bank account. This gives you a sense of security and allows you to raise queries concerning the amount either with Madigan Gill, the construction company or directly with Madigan Gill s firm of accountants. This way, if there does happen to be an error, it can be corrected before you actually receive the money so that on pay day the received sum is correct. Madigan Gill also gives me a choice of how I want to receive my holiday pay. While I ve worked for them I have never been under-paid or paid late.

Finally, since I have had a couple of pay rises while I ve worked for Madigan Gill, I can only say that they do appear to reward effort.

From my point of view, therefore, Madigan Gill meet all the criteria that I have drawn up and as an employer I would rate them as good.
