I've been an avid snowboarder/skier for over 20 years now and just moved to the front range from a mountain town and got a Loveland pass. I was taken out at the base of the bunny hill by a total out of control guy wearing jeans who went straight from the top full speed to the bottom and crashed right into me. I'm the only thing that stopped him, was a super hard hit! I was very lucky that I was between him and my 4 year old (who I ski with in control on a leash) or else there definitely would have been blood, broken bones, and a flight for life out of there. I was thrown to the ground with my ski wrapping around twice and blew my knee!! There were 3 employees at the scene that did nothing and let the guy leave (I was on the ground in pain and my child was crying so I couldn't pay attention to other people at that point) which is totally against the rules, you never leave the site of an accident on the hill, nor should a employee let that happen. One employee actually said to me "well you know this is the beginner hill" like it was no big deal that he took me out that hard & blew my knee! Then as I was sitting up trying to catch my breath a snowboard with no one on it was flying down the mountain heading right for my 4 year old and I, I pushed her out of the way & had to lean way over to keep it from hitting us! NO one from Loveland even helped us or approached us this entire time. A couple from MN that used to be ski instructors helped me up and said they couldn't believe how poorly it was all handled by Loveland. It has now been 7 weeks, I have a blown knee, and no health insurance!!!! I tried calling the front desk to tell them what happened once we got back to our car, they were super RUDE and one girl hung up on me! I then called the marketing guy there who did nothing to help me either. Who gets hurt on a mountain and ski patrol doesn't even come?!?!?!? The employees should have instantly called ski patrol over! This never would have been handled so unprofessionally in the mountain town I moved from, never. Loveland needs to pay WAY closer attention to who is putting themselves on the bunny hill or anywhere else on the slopes for that matter. It's the most dangerous place as people are learning, and there needs to be continuous supervision in those areas...and they need employees that are actually trained to take charge and be of service when something like this happens. I can't believe a Loveland pass is going to cost me over $5,000+ for the winter as I will eventually need to get surgery once I can afford it. They not only ruined my winter season and I can't even use the pass I purchased, they have also ruined my entire summer as I will be out with a bum knee...from some out of control never been on a mountain idiot in jeans (who was probably DRUNK!!) that the employees let just up and leave. They are very lucky nothing happened to my 4 year old. I have spoken to lawyers and trying to figure out the next route. The guy that hit us should have been held 100% responsible and not allowed to leave. Ski patrol should have been called over immediately. It was all handled extremely unprofessionally. So DO NOT LEARN TO SKI OR RIDE HERE and DON'T get hurt on Loveland! They will do absolutely NOTHING for you!! I will NEVER purchase a season pass or lift ticket here again.
