Pre-interview details:

I reached the US Embassy around 8:35 am. There was a small shack across the embassy where you can submit your phones and electronic items for a charge of 50 bucks per item. I think I also saw a guy who was keeping some bags but don t know the rates. I heard the embassy officer announce that you can take your car keys with you inside but no other electronic item. He also said that ladies can carry their handbags which I think was a double standard but oh well.

They lined us up around 8:50 across the road announcing for the people of 9:15 slot. Then we crossed the road, joined a line and scanned our passports with the barcode put up at VAC before. Then we wait a bit and go inside to go through the security check. It d be good if you don t carry any leather items or belts on your person. Then we are seated inside in a semi-open area in a row based system. We wait a bit again, there s a washroom near that area and then we go inside the consulate one row at a time.

Inside they make us scan our passports and I-20 with an officer. Then we join another line to wait for the final interview.
