Nichole Lynn Edwards Review of Upper Chesapeake Health
Visited Emergency Dept because of some blood press...
Visited Emergency Dept because of some blood pressure concerns and needed more blood pressure meds for home as well, til my doctor could see me. The wait for triage was approx. 10 min. Then I waited another 8-10 min to get into a room in the back. Approx 10 min later, Dr. Bentman came in to see me. AMAZING bedside manners. A total JOY to be seen by him. He sits down next to you and LISTENS, understands and has an idea for solutions way faster than I could ever think. He also made sure someone came in to help me set up appointments for my blood pressure for future treatments since I have chronic hypertension. The nurse Jennifer was Awesome. She listened and spoke with me without me feeling like she was waiting for me to shut up so she could leave the room! To me, it was a big deal. I NEEDED to talk to someone at that moment and she was just as helpful as the Doc. The social worker even came in to assist me with my insurance. I understand some people think social worker's are all about making sure the hospital is paid, but I could feel the sincerity from his help. He spoke to me in a way that I knew he was trying to help me, more than he was trying to cover my bill for my visit. He is following up with me, with my permission and assisted me with applying for insurance for myself, husband and children since we lost our state insurance due to not receiving a redetermination letter. My experience here was pleasant. Very attentive medical professionals. I would have to say that a lot of bad reviews are made based off of lack of knowledge from the public with how an emergency dept works. It is not 1st come 1st serve and I read a review that said someone was told by staff that they dont "treat" stroke or very high blood pressure. I do know that this hospital will receive patients having strokes and serious hypertension and will make sure they know what is going on, make sure a patient is stable and if they need transferring to a hospital that specializes in these areas of expertise, they definitely will make sure it is taken care of as necessary. No hospital turns away a stroke patient or refuses to help them!! This is where my mother was for her stroke last year, and was there for a few days. I recommend this emergency dept and I love dr yalamanchili a.k.a. Dr. Raj with the orthopaedics office here. He and the rest of the staff and providers are awesome
