I've been going here for almost 20 years (wow i'm old). This place has it's ups and downs just like every where else. To get the best quality of food and service you should go when it first opens and before the lunch rush. Going during rush hour or the dinner rush is a bad idea. Avoid the weekend nights also. It is way too chaotic and loud which translates into slow orders and mistakes (something I have little patience for when I'm tired and hungry). Also stick to what you know. While Apsara's has reasonable prices not everything on their menu is going to taste good so order what you know you like from other Asian restaurants. If you want to experiment save it for a buffet or see if your friend will allow you to sample from their plate. BTW--NEVER go out to eat with stingy and/or picky people. You won't have a good time and their negativity could adversely influence your opinion of the place. My fave order is nime chow, hot n sour soup or wonton soup w/green onions and beef teriyaki w/fried rice.
