It was pretty, but not transcendent. we went on a Wednesday midday, and it wasn't too packed, but certainly was busy. there is no time limit, which means the queue seemed to build up over the day. there was a surprising amount of kids there. the music was quite loud and i found the visuals busy, almost overwhelmingly so. it was easy to find by following the teamLab Mori Digital signposts, you go through the Pallette Town shopping centre and it is right under the big ferris wheel.

the exhibit is roughly split in two. upstairs there is a more physical bit upstairs called the athletic forest, there were more kids there and things to interact with, which i won't spoil but they ask for sensible footwear and to lock up your bags before you enter.

downstairs there are a variety of light shows and art screens. there's no map so it is easy to feel you are missing rooms. i'd recommend trying to complete this before getting distracted by the athletic forest.

when we went there were a lot of people obviously taking photos, which is encouraged (without flash or selfie sticks though). i didn't mind this but the busier smaller rooms it was frustrating as people were slowing down a lot to take photos, which causes queues.

the famous lantern room looked great, after we got through the queue at the foot of the stairs (5 mins) and got to the second queue (looked like 30 mins)...we decided to give it a miss. a couple other exhibits had queues. the best room for me was a mushroom kind of room, the entrance was more hidden so you could actually enjoy the effects more as it was quieter.

i feel this exhibit would work better if there was limited or time limited entry, too many people spoil the flow and immersion. it was also very warm with many people. however, boyfriend loved it despite this, so perhaps i am odd one out.

art wise, it has a clear theme, but it was obscured for me by the crowds or my own over-stimulation. theres a lot more info about the art process but it was hard to make time to read it when there is so much to see. the theme if anything was heavy handed, but it wasnt over explained before you go, and it was cohesive.

there is an app for one of the rooms but it is not clear when or how to use it so pay attention.

it is meant to be nice but hopefully this is some more realistic information about the exhibit to help you make your decision!
