We went on a hot Summer Sunday and I suggest you find a different time to visit than us. Starting with the two hour long queue at the start it continues inside around the overcrowded apartments. You simply cannot see the rooms, the art or anything. Desperately need a timed ticketing system to better manage the overcrowding. Also, a dangerous lack of consideration for guests, queuing is in a open courtyard in full glare of the sun. While we were waiting a person collapsed from
overheating. It s another queue to buy overpriced water from one of only a few cafes. Want to sit down to rest your legs, you can t go out the gardens and then visit the apartments, you have to do the shuffle around stifling hot overcrowding rooms first. Then good luck finding somewhere to sit.
It s hard not to worry that the people in charge of Versailles are only interested in money, not the preservation of the site and certainly not the comfort or safety of the visitors.
