We starting off by volunteering here and then decided to foster some kittens. When we went to pick them up they never verified our ID or told us much about the kittens. Just handed us some supplies and paperwork with a phone number to call in case of any medical issues. Fast forward 6 days later and one of the kittens became very ill. It was early morning and the animal foundation wasn t open yet so I decided to take her to my vet because she was very sick and needed some medical intervention. I didn t want her to die and I gladly paid for the vet bill knowing I wouldn t get it back. I continued with supportive care until the animal foundation opened. Proceeded to call upwards of 15 times using various numbers and leaving multiple messages with no response. The kitten was getting progressively worse and since we did not legally own the kittens we had no choice but to take them to the animal foundation. We get there with a severely critical kitten and they said we should have emailed to make an appointment not to call. We waited over 30 minutes even though the kitten was almost nonresponsive at this point. They proceeded to tell us we were wrong to have taken the kitten to another vet and that it was our fault that we tried calling instead of emailing. What use is it to give us an emergency phone number to call when you don t answer the phone. We had to relinquish both kittens back to them because we could not provide 24hr home care to them. The girl abruptly gave us back our carrier and walked out the room. I am in total shock as to how little they care about their animals and clients. I would have adopted both of them and took them to our vet to get the best care and paid however much money but they were too young to do so. I worry that they didn t even try to help the extremely sick one and fear that they put her down. I was in tears and so angry and frustrated at how callous these people are. We made a formal complaint to one of the managers but I doubt it will go any further. They need to be held accountable for their poor service and uncaring attitude towards the animals that they claim they want to save. I don t want this to happen to any other animal or foster parent. I plan to continue my complaint further up the chain for the sake of the animals. The animal foundation is supposed to be a safe haven for pets until they can find their forever home but this is clearly not the case. I am deeply ashamed, appalled and disappointed at this facility. Hopefully further investigations will be made and that they either find more caring staff (highly doubtful) or change their policies (also highly doubtful). I just wish I could do more to prevent this from ever happening again.
