Aleks Peneva Review of Quaglino's Restaurant London.
Hard pass from me.
Hard pass from me.
Reception staff was immediately frustrated as we were 7 mins late. She almost made the birthday girl cry.
Coat check girl was unable to catch up with our coats. Not her fault.
Place is charming but you can see ridiculous little details that don't match the vibe.
Plastic window for the cheese?!
Toilets were really average, broken seats, seen better toilets in Nandos.
Our table was really good and allowed us to sit comfortably.
The venue was very noisy. Music until 9 pm couldn't be heard and we were sitting very close to it.
Staff rushes you a lot as this is part of their job. Still the girl named Diana was super sweet.
Food was average. Had the cotswolds chicken breast. Its okay. Not for that price. Just okay.
My friends got 3 others, all with screw caps and all nasty. The shabli, the malbec, the sauvignon blanc all had a very sharp ,vinegary taste.
My friend said the beef tartare was great. It came with a toast that has been prepared in December. We asked the waitress for a replacement, she exchanged it rather unwillingly but that's okay.
The hamhock was not that special but all loved the parfait starter so highly recommended.
Had some dried scallops.
Plenty of helpful staff.
Once we finished dinner, we were told there's a bar area. That was all saved for a private event. So you had to stand up awkwardly ,waiting forever for a drink, while staff is trying to manoeuvre around you.
Funniest thing,so they're not okay with my friends celebration ballons and sashes which is fine as we didn't care that much. Yet they allow so many underdressed people, never seen that many ripped jeans and tacky mini skirts at one place. So what is that place? Revolutions bar meets Wetherspoons but in a pretentious way.
Hardcore pass from me. Nothing blew my mind,in fact I came open minded and I was just disappointed.
I think most reviews are left by people who enjoy being catered by many people at the same time, but people who are used to it,should know that a good staff is almost invisible. It felt so intense like we are playing dodgeball. You can't go to the restroom without bumping on at least 6 people.
Or the reviews are left by people whose ego is tickled by the history and reputation of the venue. The same people who would tag themselves and take selfies all night .
