Haven't been able to go here for over 12 years. Its clear the money has been invested in the newer exhibits, which are all excellent. Particularly liked the tree top monkey walk. We actually managed to see the baby gorilla from a different vantage point without waiting in the massive queue near the glass windows. Likewise the investment in the elephant enclosure and its environs is really paying off, with the bamboo shoots creating a very good atmosphere.

Unfortunately some of the other exhibits are looking tired, particularly the baboons, the Australia area and some of the other "infill" areas. I guess its impossible to keep the whole of the zoo up to the standards set by the latest exhibits, but its good to investment is on-going.

Food options are quite limited beyond the standard chips / burger / pies / bottle of soft drink. We tried the fried rice and noodles in the Elephant area both of which were tasty, with generous portion sizes but lacked any genuine filling.

All in all a good day out. Helpful to have the train station access which makes getting back into the city fairly quick and pain free.
