Upon arrival we noticed right away that this hotel is quite dated. The furniture and chairs in the lobby areas look a bit dirty and worn and cushions misshaped from use. Our room was not ready yet, so we ate out on the patio. We had to chase down the waitress as she walked right past us sitting there without making eye contact. Food was just okay, very overpriced. As we were eating our food, a lady ran over and vomited into a corner by a plant. That vomit sat there, in the open, for nearly 20 minutes. Then, the busser covered it up with towels and napkins. We noticed the next day that it had not been properly cleaned and remnants of the vomit remained there. Once we got to our room it did NOT look like a $300 a night room at all. The bedding, linens and towels were clean, but not anything else. The bathroom floor was filthy and you could see the carpeting had not been properly vacuumed for quite some time. Off to the beach. There were people using the facilities who were not hotel guests. The beautiful white sand was littered with cigarette buts. Smoking should be prohibited. This is where we discovered that the hotel was going to nickel and time as much out of us as possible. Think you have a chair to sit in? Nope, got to pay for it and exorbitant fees for cabanas and any of the chairs. We sat in the bar area (free) and enjoyed drinks from the Tiki bar and our waitress was delightful and friendly. At about 5 or 6 a guy showed up with some music and he had a guitar and his singing was not very enjoyable. We found a great steak and seafood place down the street for dinner, and came back to our room. We had a few drinks on the restaurant patio to watch the sunset. $25 for spa/gym, $25 for parking that might be full (hotel charges the public $12 to park). We will NOT be back. We feel ripped off after having spent just over $400 for one nights stay. If our room was $89 to $99 per night that would be more fair. The old bait and switch....hold out the Hilton name, and deliver sub par. It is my hope that Hilton executive management will read this review and take notice. This hotel does not meet the standards of Hilton. I would give one star, but gave two as most staff were lovely and attentive. Especially our breakfast server.
