Alex A Review of Save A Death Row Doggie Rescue

I called to inquire about a five month old Schnauzer Mix named Bingo that I saw a post on Facebook since I follow DRRs Facebook page. The lady I spoke to Diana completely gave me the run around. I told her I was interested in adopting Bingo becuase I adopted my own Schnauzer Mix Max from Animal Aid when he was only five months old. Max and Bingo's story is very similar and I thought why not give this gorgeous puppy a home and he can gain a big brother that looks just like him. However, I guess I wasnt a good fit. Over the phone I was bombarded with questions. She immediatley told me a "lady" (talking about herself) would tell me no because I live in an apartment. So I responded that, so because I live in an apartment you're going to turn me down? I thought adopting a dog was to find it a loving home?" Also, I was told he's a very active puppy and that it wouldn't work. I am a track and field athlete training to compete in the olympics and my coach runs for his team country and is a world champion. She then proceeded to ask me if my coach can be a reference, as if I was lying. She asked me my age, about my schooling and numerous of other questions that had NOTHING to do with Bingo. I have a 2 year old dog, two guinea pigs, and a six year old rabbit who s to old to move from the Keys and we felt its best for her to stay where she's comfortable. Also, I work for a dog walking company called Wag. I have clients that trust me so much with their fur kids that they have become my own personal clients. I have received nothing less of a five star rating on my job. I also explained to her how I take my dog to the dog park everyday and theirs a dog park behind my building which is a 10 second walk. She still came up with excuses. Diana was extremely rude and defensive. I could tell she didn t want me to adopt Bingo at all. I am so bummed about not getting to meet Bingo. I know my family at home in the Keys and my dog would ve loved having him apart of our family. All my pets are rescued pets that were on the verge of being euthanized and I didn t want to shop but to adopt. She got really nasty and told me, "why don t I just look at the shelters where their are 600 dogs and 30-40 are being euthanized every day. Isn t Bingo a dog that needs a home? I pray and hope Bingo finds his forever home. He deserves the best family. As for Diana she was very rude, snappy, slick at the mouth and confrontational. Every time she questioned me with answers to try to prove I wasn t a good fit, I proved to her each time that I was! She told me she would have a lady (talking about herself) call me back and she was just the messenger. I asked her if she has my contact info and she said, yes, its the number you called off of." I ended up giving her my cell number anyway with the area code 305. She then proceeds to say wait your in Miami! If you had my number wouldn t you already know I don t have a 954 area code? I still encourage people to adopt here but beware. She definitely undermined me.
