A hospital is a place where you prefer to stay as far away as possible, but if you do, go to the Westfriest guesthouse.

More than two years ago I broke my ankle in 3 places. The highly skilled surgeon Dr. de Haan has installed screws and plates in my ankle to promote recovery. Due to a complication, I was admitted to another hospital closer to home a few days after the operation. Where I felt like a patient in the WFG, I felt like a number in this other hospital. Fortunately, Dr. De Haan contacted me a few weeks after the operation to ask about the recovery. During this telephone conversation, I realized that I would rather be treated at the WFG and planned a new appointment. While they only looked at x-rays in the other hospital, Dr. De Haan also asked about my "feeling" and my "story."

Six months after the operation I was able to walk carefully again. Thanks to physiotherapy, I quickly made "big strides," but decent walking was not yet possible. My ankle couldn't bend well, which resulted in a penguin walk and sometimes a lot of pain. Dr. de Haan listened to my complaints and after good consultation it was decided to remove the plates and screws in my ankle. A few weeks after the operation I was able to walk normally and without complaints.

2.5 years ago I did not expect that I would ever run without tools. Last weekend I ran 12 km.
