A colleague and I stayed for 2 nights this week to deliver a training nearby. The hotel was pleasant in some respects but air con noisy and not possible to open windows so airless and stuffy. My main complaint and reason for a low rating is that one of our delegates was treated appallingly by the reception staff on her arrival late at night after delayed trains (x4) from the other end of the country. Having phoned ahead to check availability she arrived late at night to be told she couldn't check in without a passport ID (we were not asked to provide ID of any form). The man on reception was rude and aggressive refusing to offer any support, options or compassion. In fact, he called her a taxi (she hadn't asked for) when she didn't have anywhere to go and tried to bully her into getting in when she hadn't yet organised an alternative. This was a young woman, in an unfamiliar place, late at night. I am outraged by this behaviour and do not recommend people to stay here.
