This is a gorgeous island paradise - I don't think we've ever stayed at a place quite so tranquil, so peaceful or so isolated. The staff are amazing, the food was phenomenal, the water divine.

It's a small island - you need to take a long seaplane ride to get here - with only a small number of guests. It's easy to spend your days with a book under a coconut tree hardly seeing anyone till you feel like a meal or a drink. Small friendly reef shark swim all the way up to the sandy white beach among schools of colorful fish.

We stayed in a water bungalow just short of the reef - there's nothing like waking up to sights and sounds of the ocean, to share your morning coffee with the sunrise and perhaps a friendly crab (we had one who was a staple friend for our entire stay each time!).

Be warned, if you're looking for lots of excitement, or a TV or a pool or a children-friendly resort, this is not the island you're looking for.

We adored Mirihi so much, it remains the only place in the world we've been to where I enjoyed the experience so much and missed it so much, that we came back to it a second time.
