The ratings are ALL TRUE. I'm giving a genuine 1 star because customer service reps were at least very polite but ultimately useless. Aside from that, Whirlpool customer service itself is a BIG FAT ZERO. I have a brand new two-thousand-dollar fridge in which apparently the compressor has given out after a little less than 6 months of use. They sent a technician out that apparently had to order the part and would get back to me in a couple days to tell me the status and make an appointment to come back and install the compressor. He said when he comes back, I would have to provide him with a wet towel and cardboard box to solder. Since I had no other fridge and three kids at home I asked if he could expedite the process. He assured me that he understood and would do so. I of course never got any follow up or heard back.

I contacted customer service again, which stated they were unable to tell what the status was because all notes were in French, and they are located in the US. They then left a message for the technician to call me back, and of course, once again, he did not. They said if he did not call me back to call them again, so I called back customer service, which instead of dealing with the situation was already trying to sell me an extended warranty! They then put me on hold to talk to the tech who only answered them that he would call me when he gets the part. They then went on about the extended warranty again with absolutely no resolution. They refuse to replace a brand-new fridge or take any action.

Last but not least, changing a compressor (which should last at least 10 years) is quite the thing. The gases are hazardous and it can catch fire very quickly if you are not careful. The technician wants to do this in my home and wants me to provide him with a cardboard box and a wet towel? Not only should he do this outside but it s certainly NOT up to me to give him one of my towels to ruin to protect my newly renovated floor. I can only anticipate the rest of the story.

Meanwhile we have no fridge, a useless customer care center who can only answer they don t know or sorry. Watch them reply to this comment; they are sorry. People, they don t have 1 star on 5 for nothing. Just stop buying their products. I will; they simply DON T CARE!

Whilpool's solution is for you to spend more money on a extended warranty since the product is so poorly built in the first place.

Update: I had already written to the email address in the standard response they give to everyone on these reviews. Unfortunately no one even acknowledged receiving my email or responded; I'm sure "they're sorry " seems to be their only canned response and not take any action. Also you would think that instead of selling you an extended warranty they would at the very least apologize with action and offer to GIVE you an extended warranty for the trouble. Should we teach anyone about customer service here? So far my review stands strong as the company is not doing anything as is the case for most people here it seems.
