In August, I had the worst experience of my life involving domestic abuse. I turned to the police for help but continued to find myself getting screwed over by the system. I felt helpless and defeated. I had upcoming court dates and couldn t afford an attorney. I had suffered severe anxiety and PTSD but couldn t afford to go to counseling. A friend recommended contacting The Samaritan House to see if I qualified for assistance. This was the first time through my experience where I felt like someone cared. The rep who helped me really showed me compassion and helped me get the resources I needed for free legal aid and free counseling. I m sadden I was ever a person who needed assistance from a domestic abuse program but wow am I beyond grateful they were there.
