Extremely disappointed in the treatment from the nurses in the 4th tower. My grandpa has been admitted due to CHF along with other life threatening diseases such a COPD, abdominal aortic aneurysm, kidney and hepatic disease. I called to see if I could bring one of our dogs to visit him and they replied, "Absolutely as long as you have proof of vaccines." I brought her two days in a row. She does nothing but sit quietly on the bed next to my grandpa and they sleep. He's tickled pink to have one of his best fur buds by his side. No barking or any other instances like that have occurred as she is a lazy bones chiweenie. On the third day I hear whispers and see pointing amongst the staff as I carry her in. I ask the floor manager what the issue is and her reply is "if I had called this morning for permission to bring her in?". No I did not because NO ONE told me this. Now I feel like I'm breaking rules that no one had me made aware of. I call like I am asked the fourth day. They're reply is "the dog can visit for a short visit". Upon hearing that I ask what the parameters of that means. Again she repeats the same words very shortly. I ask for an explanation because vague answers make me uneasy. The nurse tells me "maybe 5-10 minutes". I am upset by this fact. We contact the management and finally hours later they dig up a 2 page policy on dogs which does NOT state how long an animal companion can stay. Management came up with some arbitrary number of 2 hours for our case which is better than 10 minutes but in no way sufficient enough time for my grandpa. They think they're doing right by following rules that are not direct in the slightest, but in turn they're upsetting and hurting an elderly man. He's scared for his life and being punished for being sick and dying. I've seen nothing but heartless remarks and treatment towards his situation. Management asking "why I think he's dying". Because he is. She didn't even know the extent of his conditions which shows how much this staff is paying attention.
