It's been quite some time since I've visited this hotel, and recently visited for a friend's wedding. It has old school DC charm but wow did it not impress in food quality and front desk was not friendly.
The food served af cocktail hour was just odd. There was a prosciutto wrapped fig with bleu cheese - someone should have tasted this, it's an awful combo and texture is weird. The tuna tartare color was off, like it had been sitting out. None of the small bites were good. We went into dinner hoping for better food, to be disappointed again. The seafood option consisted of a crab cake (which was ok), shrimp (which was way too salty), and a slab of salmon. The salmon was so fishy no one at our table took more than a bite. Someone wasn't paying attention to their prep work, it's quite easy to over season shrimp. The lamb was super gamey and lacked overall flavoring. Everyone pretty much just ate their broccolini and overly dry mashed potatoes. The desserts were ok - couple mousse cakes. However, for the coffee/tea service, only a handful of cups were set out, enough for about 2 tables. We watched and they were never restocked.
Icing on top was when we went to pay for our parking and grab our car from valet. The front desk agent never cracked a smile, yet scoffed at me when I asked if she would be calling for the car (apparently you text a number to bring the car). Very disappointing experience amongst everyone we discussed with.
