NEVER AGAIN, EVER! First, it took the lady at the desk 25 minutes to check me in, in part because she had to have the manager verify something because I made the reservation with a third party, and secondly because some guy's key card wasn't working, so she took the time to take care of him before finishing with me, even though I let her know I was in a hurry. So I get to the room, and the key card doesn't work. I go back to same lady, and I did interrupt her while checking in another couple, because hey, the guy earlier did it to me, and again, I was in a hurry. She made sure to finish with the other couple completely first before attending to me and realized she sent me to the wrong room. So if you go through the pictures, the first 2 are from how many times I called to try to find out about an extra charge on my card. I left a message, but NEVER got a call back and apparently there's only 1 lady that deals with this issue, and she was never in, so I eventually had to actually go to the hotel. They said someone in my room had a Redbull. Who, the maid? The lady at the front desk refunded my card exactly $5 like I told her was on my card because I didn't remember the exact amount, but it was actually charged $5.41. You can see that in the last 2 photos. Why was she not able to figure that out if they claimed to know what I was charged for? And if she was able to do that, why did they keep sending me to the same absent lady's voicemail? Why, when I called the front desk once, I was told the financial lady was "probably" on another floor and couldn't be reached? The 3rd picture is of the robes they brag about. The cow one is up to standard and very comfortable. The black one is way less comfortable than my own robe at home. They definitely don't advertise that one on the site for a reason. The 4th picture is to warn anyone to watch your shins. Both my fiance' and myself kept hitting the corners of the bed base that stick out. You can also tell from the wear and tear, we weren't the only ones. The 5th and 7th pictures are to show you how dirty the ac vents in the room and bathroom were. They obviously don't get cleaned at all...just like the floor and possibly tub. The 6th picture is of the dirty stained tub. I hoped paying for an expensive room included a jacuzzi tub. I could get over that, but not the filth. And to make things worse, we had to call maintenance because the water wasn't hot. Front desk said they'd be right there. Took almost 20 minutes later. The guy said he'd fix it in about 5 minutes, but it actually took him 20. I'm not upset about how long it took, because you have to give people the benefit of the doubt when fixing things. I'm upset that we had to call him in the first place in an "upscale" hotel. The 8th picture is of a soda bottle top. It was the first thing I saw when I walked in the room. I looked closer at the floor and saw strands of hair too. So was that their average level of cleanliness? I left it there the entire time. The 9th picture is of the balcony. When you're paying for a King Balcony Suite, wouldn't you expect there to be a light on the balcony so you could enjoy it at night? I guess not. And the last picture is to show you the cheap couch that looked like it was attached to the wall, which could be easily pulled apart. I'm am not joking at all with my next opinion. I have been to Holiday Inns that were much less and 3 times better. Hotel Derek is overpriced and very much underwhelming. I personally will NEVER pay to go back, and I absolutely mean that. I expected so much because of it's reputation of hosting stars and athletes, at least that's what I heard. I'm just properly warning people by my experience. People will continue to go, so I'm not going to say don't. I just had to do my part to properly warn others.
