i stayed both in the east and west wings and the difference is night and day. the better wing is of course is the west wing, it was renovated in 2017. it also has a safe, great for leaving your passport and extra cash. the only thing great in the east wing is the view of the petronas tower from your room (see pic). no safe though in the east wing. the only gym in the hotel is on the east wing - lots of machines and free weights as well. the gym is also open 24 hours, i think you need your key card after midnight. i booked with breakfast included and there were lots of selections. you can try local malaysian cuisine if you wish. there is also a spa but i didnt have the time to try it. the pool is also huge but didnt try it as well. if you wish to upgrade from east wing to west, the hotel will charge you 100 ringgit (about US$25) but if you book directly online the price difference is only about US$10 - so don't ask to be upgraded when you are there. foreign passport holders are also required to pay an additional 10 ringgit per night extra. btw, the hotel is about 5-10 minute walk to the petronas tower. you can also walk all the way to bukit bintang, there is an air-conditioned walk-way from the petronas tower to bukit bintang (aquarium, pavillion mall, etc). finally, the staff are extremely helpful. they were all very attentive to your needs - i had a great stay and the reason for 5 stars.
btw, if you need a sim card/data then go to the celcom store at the ground floor of the petronas tower. just don't forget to bring your passport, it is needed for registration.
