I made reservation for Christmas Eve dinner at Pirata and was much looking forward to it to celebrate with my girlfriend. Having heard the name Pirata for long, I expected good service and experience. It turned out to be poor service and attendance. Reservation was 8:30pm and we only got to sit down at 9:30pm (BY OURSELVES... we were moved to the rooftop and was told it would take 10-15 minutes for the table to be ready, so we ordered our drinks first. Soon after we realised many other people were moved to the rooftop and told the same, there was a crowd of people looking awkwardly at each other. It was only when we felt something might have gone wrong and went back down to ask, we saw the counter table was ready long ago but no one informed us). We only received a casual apology from the staff for literally waiting for one hour. The Christmas menu is a good deal for the portions and variety, food quality is fine. But the dishes come at irregular time, some much slower than the other (pretty slow I'd say). Overall it could've been a decent meal but completely ruined by the long wait, poor service and the feeling that PIRATA GROUP is so commercial that it wants to squeeze profits as much as possible to the detriment of restaurant services. I am against restaurants doing few rounds of meals on 1 night, it is impossible for everyone in 1st round to finish the meal on time, so people from 2nd round have to wait, everyone was forced to delay their schedule for the night. Selfish. PIRATA GROUP called to apologise and wished I could go back and discuss - no thanks. What's done is done.
