We were there last night in a party of 11 for a surprise birthday dinner. Our table wasn't ready for 20 minutes and we were actually only seated once we walked ourselves to the table after we became concerned about the surprise being ruined when the guest of honor arrived and we were all still waiting in the lobby with our table decorations in a box, etc. Hostesses were rude and could not care less. Our waiter was a generally nice person but seemed very overwhelmed with our large party. He knocked drinks over and took away unfinished (expensive) cocktails without asking...he seemed obsessed with our water glasses and having too many on the table yet ignored the empty dishes piling up. For what the drinks in there cost, our spilled and removed drinks should have been replaced. When we moved to the bar for one last round, my martini glass had a decent sized glass piece missing with a very jagged edge. I brought it to the bar and was brought a new one, with apologies, ..but just not the feel of how a place with such high prices and seemingly high standards should treat their customers. Atmosphere is quite scenic, but loud and the waitstaff rushing by constantly made it feel very chaotic to me. I was nearly run over by a hostess/server carrying plates ~ she apologized, but it felt like you were in their way all of the time. The ONLY saving grace for me was the food, which was truly amazing. Despite its lengthy tenure in Providence, this place has the feel of a frenzied steakhouse that just opened its doors to me and it could probably benefit from some customer service training as well, in my view.
