The Service staff are out to fleece you.
I had gone in for an oil change for my Rav4 which was in very good condition. They tried to make me change the water pump, flush out etc. I had declined as I wanted to have a 2nd opinion. When I got my car back there was a loud rattling noise under the hood. When I pointed out that their view was that it was the water pump and advised that it should be changed.
Tjree years ago they tried to force me to change the tires when it was in good condition.
