My spouse and I went to Cornerstone Church about 3...

My spouse and I went to Cornerstone Church about 3 times when looking for a church near Marshalltown. We had some friends tell us about it, and met some really sweet people and solid believers. The church is doing such a great job reaching out to the college-aged students and the surrounding community that God has called them to. The only thing I disliked was the Spirit was quenched, and it was very hard to identify where they stood on the topic of Holy Spirit today. During Next Steps, when asked what their beliefs on spiritual gifts of prophecy and tongues were, the answer was a bit vague, as they responded that people believe differently. I didn t want to make assumptions one way or another, so I would ve appreciated a statement just to know exactly where they stood on it, and so I could be better informed about if in their church they avoid or address Holy Spirit, and what they believe (since this is something important to my walk and something my husband and I were intentionally curious about, since our main things were: spirit-led, biblically sound, and had places where we could easily get involved). They were very straightforward, however, that they don t teach on the gifts of the spirit, prophecy, or tongues. I really appreciate that honesty. This review is just to hopefully give you some short (or long) and simple information if you re looking for a church home in or around Ames and Marshalltown. It can be daunting with how many churches there are! And specifically let you know what we learned regarding the topic of Holy Spirit. If this is not a highlight in your walk with God or if it is, I still encourage you to see for yourself, and see where your perfect fit is. There are spirit filled believers at this church, and you ll never be short on finding people to do life with :) God is using Cornerstone!
