My 5 year old daughter took ice skating lessons here for about a month and a half. While the class itself and her instructor Jessica was fantastic, the Arena has out of the blue decided to change some of its practices. The program she took includes a half hour lesson, and then one hour of practice free-skating, in which there are no instructors on the ice and the parents were allowed to come on with them for an additional $5.00 fee. The new policy states that parents will no longer be allowed to go on the ice with their children during their 1 hour practice time. Being that my daughter is only 5 and still a beginner that needs help, it is an extreme safety concern for me to let her be on the ice alone, unsupervised. What happens if she falls and needs help? When I called to ask about this, the woman on the phone said she didn t know how to answer that for me and would have the general manager call me. I ve spoken to the same woman about 5 times, and have left a message for the general manager since Sunday. It is now Friday and I have still gotten no response. Im not sure how they expect 4 and 5 year olds to practice ice skating independently, without any supervision, and think they won t get hurt. A place that is willing to put a child s safety in jeopardy is a place I just cannot stand behind.
